OBJECTIVE

The objective of this faculty development programme is to provide an exposure to the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and to discuss the recent research issues, challenges and applications in this field. Processing of human languages is the need of the time to ease human-machine interaction as well as to bridge the language divide. To achieve human-like language processing artificially, computerized approaches based on theories and technologies are employed. NLP based information access technologies will continue to be a major area of research and development in information systems now and far into the future. This programme will be beneficial to academicians and researchers to get insight of natural languages and will also facilitate them to develop a computational model for a particular application.

The programme will be focused on:

          • Optical character recognition
          • Machine translation and transliteration
          • Text-to-Speech synthesis
          • Speech recognition
          • Text summarization
          • Information retrieval and extraction
          • Applications of NLP, etc.
