The duration of the programme for the Master of Technology (M.Tech) for the regular candidates shall be four semester (24 months).The maximum period in which such a candidate must qualify in the course work shall be three academic years, failing which he/she shall not be allowed to continue his /her studies for the programme. Provided that the limit for the thesis shall be as given in regulate 7.3(a). |

The duration for the part time course for the Master of
Technology programme in the case of a candidate working as a teacher in the
University Department or a College affiliated to the University in the Faculty of Engineering & Technology Or an
Engineer working in the Department/Industry/Laboratory with in the
jurisdiction of the University, shall be minimum of five semesters. The
maximum period in which such candidate must complete course work shall be
five academic years from the date of admission, failing he/she
shall not be allowed to continue his/her studies for the programme. |

A total of 12 theory subjects are kept in the scheme of teaching/Examination followed by seminar and thesis work. |
2.1 |
The examination for the degree of the Master of Technology shall be held twice in an academic year at the end of each of semester. The examination for each semester shall be held in November/ December and April/May on date fixed by University. |
2.2 |
The last date for receipt of examination admission forms and examination fee without and with late fees of Rs.500/- and Rs.1000/- respectively shall be fixed by the university. |
3.1 |
A person holding the following qualification shall be
eligible for the admission to the programme for the degree of M Tech. : |
3.2 |
A teacher working in the University Department or a College affiliated to the University or Engineers/scientist working in a Department /Industry/Laboratory within the territorial jurisdiction of the University may be allowed to join the M.Tech programme on having obtained at least 50% marks in Bachelor of Technology and at least two years teaching/professional experience . He/She shall however, not be allowed to register for more than three subjects in any semester subject to a maximum of five during one academic year. |
4.1 |
A student who possesses the qualification laid down in
regulation 3, has remained on the rolls of the University or if a College
affiliated to the University of Master of Technology programme in the branch
of Engineering selected by him/her for the academic semester concerned, and
produces the following certificate signed by the Head of the Department/
Principal shall be eligible to appear in the examination of that semester

A deficiency in the required number of lectures and practicals may be condoned upto 10% by the Head of the University Department/Principal of the College as the case may be. |
4.3 |
In case the attendance of a regular student falls below 75% in any course during a month, he/she will not be paid Assistantship for that month. Further ,if his/her attendance again falls short of 75% in any course in any subsequent month in that semester , his/her studentship and assistantship will be terminated.(for Gate Student) |

Every candidate shall be required to fulfill the following
requirement for the award of the degree of Master of Technology : |

A candidate will have the option for the Post -Graduate Diploma After completion of twelve papers and Seminar, Provided further that such a candidate seek readmission within a maximum period of five years from the date of PG Diploma to pursue thesis work for the award of M.Tech degree. |
6.3 |
English shall be medium of examination. |
7.1 |
The candidate shall prepare his/her thesis under the supervision of the teacher concerned in the University Department /College. If however , the Head of the Department/Principal is satisfied that facilities for the thesis exist elsewhere (recognized by the Punjab Technical University , Jalandhar ) ,he/she may allow to prepare the thesis there, and his/her period shall count towards the requirement for the Master's Degree programme, but the candidate shall spend for completing his/her thesis , a minimum period of four weeks, under the direct supervision of his/her teacher .In such a case, the candidate will be allowed to have supervision from the concerned institution. |

In case the thesis supervision leaves the
College/University Department, and join some other
institution affiliate to |

The thesis shall present an orderly and critical exposition of the existing knowledge of the subject or shall embody results of the original investigation and demonstrate the capacity of the candidate to do independent research work. While writing the thesis, the candidate shall lay out clearly the work done by him/ her independently and the sources from which he/she has obtained other information contained in his/her thesis. |
7.3(a) |
The candidate shall submit
the thesis at any time during the fourth semester of the course provided that
he/she has appeared in all the theory papers upto the third semester
examination. The result of the thesis shall be declared after the candidate
passes in all the theory papers. In case the candidate's thesis is
rejected, or he/she is unable to complete the thesis in fourth semester,
he/she will allowed the year more time at the max for the submission of the
thesis or its revision. |
7.3(b) |
The thesis shall be submitted by a part time candidate at
any time during sixth semester provided that he/she has appeared in the
theory papers upto the fifth semester examination. The result of the thesis
shall be declared after the candidate passes in the all the theory papers and
the seminar. In case thesis is rejected or he/she is unable to complete the
thesis in the sixth semester, he/she will be allowed to submit with in
six years from the date of admission. |
