TEQIP-II and Indian Geotechnical Society-Ludhiana Chapter is organizing a Short Term Training Program on “Solid Waste Management in Indian Cities – Issues and Concerns” from 23 – 27 August, 2016 at Department of Civil Engineering, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana.
There is no registration fee for the participants and No TA/DA will be paid to the participants. Since the seats are limited, the registration will be done on first-come first-serve basis. The registration process will be completed only when the registration form is received from the participant through a proper channel by 17th August, 2016. However, candidates may send an advance copy through email, post or by hand.

The Indian Geotechnical Society-Ludhiana Chapter organised a one-day workshop on ‘Numerical and Physical Modelling‘ in association with TC8 committee of IGS. It was held on 3rd October, 2015 at Department of Civil Engineering, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana. About 175 delegates attended the workshop including a large number of PG students and field/design engineers.

The Indian Geotechnical Society-Ludhiana Chapter has successfully organised a prestigious annual event of the Indian Geotechnical Society, New Delhi——“IGS-Ferroco Terzaghi Oration-2014” on 11th October, 2014. It was delivered by Professor A. Sridharan, Ex- Deputy Director, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore at Department of Civil Engineering, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana.
To mark this prestigious event, IGS-Ludhiana Chapter and Civil Engineering Department of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana has also organized a National Conference on “Geotechnical Engineering Practice and Sustainable Infrastructure Development” from 11th-12th October, 2014 along with a workshop on “Forensic Geotechnical Engineering”. The workshop was conducted by Dr. G.L.Sivakumar Babu, Professor, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore.

IGS-Ludhiana Chapter hosted the prestigious biannual event of the IGS New Delhi — IGS-Ferroco Terzaghi Oration (IFTO-2014) on 11th October 2014 at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhiana (Punjab), INDIA. The earlier three IGS-Ferroco Terzaghi Orations were delivered by Professor Harry G. Poulos (2010), Professor M. R. Madhav (2011) and Professor Kerry Rowe (2012).
Eminent researcher and academician Professor Dr. A Sridharan delivered the IFTO-2014 on “Soil Clay Mineralogy and Physico-Chemical Mechanisms Governing the Fine Grained Soil Behaviour”

Indian Geotechnical Society, New Delhi (IGS) has opened its 35th Chapter in Ludhiana with an aim to address the local problems faced by the people of Punjab in general and civil engineering community in particular. It will provide a platform to the engineers, scientists, industrialists and others who are actively associated with the geotechnical works to come together to interact, collect, synthesize and collate valuable information on geotechnical engineering aspect of Civil Engineering for betterment of the community. The chapter was inaugurated by the President of the IGS, Professor K S Rao in the campus of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College. The inaugural function was followed by a seminar and panel discussion. Members of IGS community, engineers from Govt Departments, private consultants, members of Institution of Engineers from the state of Punjab, Chandigarh attended the function and participated in the panel discussion.
