What is Indian Citation Index (ICI):

Indian Citation Index (ICI) is a home grown abstracts and citation database, with multidisciplinary objective information/knowledge contents from about 1000 top Indian scholarly journals. It provides powerful search engine basically to perform search and evaluation for researchers, policy makers, decision makers etc. At present, it is planned to launch this long awaited and needed information tool with five years back files (depth) which would go over 10 years and beyond in a year's time. The ICI database would enable access to over .25 million source and 3 million cited records. ICI database is a powerful tool that let you search, track, measure and collaborate in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities to turns raw data/information into the powerful knowledge you need.

Mr. Prakash Chand, Ex Scientist NISCAIR, CSIR and M/s Divan Enterprise Pvt. Ltd. with a view to address this long felt need have started to develop and bring out multidisciplinary Indian Citation Index (ICI) scanning ~1000 journals of Indian origin.

Indian Citation Database (ICI) is a abstracts and citation database intended to measure and perform two basic functions, general literature search and evaluation using citations similar to international databases. A database in general is a collection of information that is organized so that it can easily be accessed for various purposes, managed, and updated regularly.
Citations symbolize the association of R&D ideas. The references that researchers cite in their papers make explicit links between their current research and prior work in the literature archive. Indian Citation Index (ICI) these intellectual links by listing both cited and citing works. Like other indexes, this enables one to move back in time to previously published papers. But uniquely one can also look forward in time to determine who has subsequently cited an earlier piece of research.
Scope

Indian R&D literature across all disciplines i.e. science, technology, medicine, agriculture, social science and humanities publishes in journals/ serials or in other documents which originates from India.

Objectives

To represent Indian R&D out put adequately

To reflect and represent complete picture of Indian scholarly contribution at national and international level

To create an authentic tool to measure and analyze Indian scholarly works for various purposes

The ICI empowers scholarly community to map the knowledge publish in journals/periodicals etc. from India. Whether you are just starting your scholarly work, academic research as an experienced researcher or teacher, or a librarian or administrator, ICI delivers objective content and the tools to support your role in the research workflow.

You can use ICI to learn more about how to discover and analyze data, track and measure trends and performance, and collaborate, author, and publish research. Using ICI, one can take crucial decisions on accurate, objective information and sound metrics; track research performance; establish benchmarks; make funding decisions; look for transfer opportunities; formulate strategies etc.

BOOK BANK SECTION Books to SC/ST students

B.Tech. Students, belongs to SC category , who are interested to get books out of BOOK BANK SECTION should be apply for books after forming a group of two and they will be issued one set of books as per govt. norms. They are directed to collect the form meant for this purpose from checking counter of library and submit it duly filled by 07/08/2009 positively .The BOOK BANK SECTION books will be issued to those students who have renewed their membership for current semester on 10/08/2009 after 2.00p.m.

May 17 - 23, 2009 at IIT Kharagpur

Dear Colleague:

Although the hands-on laboratory experiments are an integral part of
engineering education, availablity of adequate laboratory
facilities to individual students is becoming increasingly difficult in a
traditional laboratory for various reasons.
To address this issue, Web-based Laboratories are being developed at IIT
Kharagpur as a solution to this problem. Students have now the opportunity
of performing experiments from anywhere and anytime.

The proposed summer school will focus on the development strategies of the
Web/Internet Laboratory or Online Laboratory or Laboratory-on-
Demand for various engineering courses through the Internet and is based on
the knowledge developed at IIT Kharagpur.
May we request you to kindly depute interested faculty members to
participate in the summer school or forward this mail to someone
you know who may be interested.

Book Fair

All the HOD's are requested to provide the list of books worth Rs.20,000/- for each Deptt. with the complete Information of Title/Author/Publisher & Copies by tuesday morning to be purchased from the World Book fair 2008, going to be held at New Delhi.
We are planning to visit the world book fair on 6/2/08 with the represetatives from each Deptt for the above said purpose..
